When does duct replacement beat another cleaning?

Cleaning moves dust. It does not fix torn liner. If the inner flex liner is shredded, the vacuum pulls fiber, not debris. Same with crushed runs behind an HVAC platform. A kinked duct stays kinked after cleaning. Those are replacement calls, not cleaning calls.

Fremont splits two ways. Slab homes from the 1950s–70s often have galvanized trunk lines with round branch takeoffs, some under-slab or in-ceiling. Under-slab metal is rarely worth replacing in place. Re-routing overhead is usually the honest answer there. Attic systems built or re-ducted after the late 1970s run R-4.2 or R-6 flex.
